Axial seals are often used in conjunction with rotating shaft seals to provide reliable protection against dirt, grease, or liquids as modular seals. Typical usage applications are electric motors, gearboxes, pumps, agricultural machinery, machine tools, and washing machines. Two axial seal types, R (standard) and 9R (with elongated metal ring for use as labyrinth seal) ensure a good sealing effect on the working surface. It consists of both a coated metal ring and a die-cured elastomeric seal. The metal ring protects the gasket from damage and acts as a swing.
